Where to start
First check that Professional Testing, Inc. (PTI) has approved your examination application. Then book the required examination parts with Pearson VUE. An application payment receipt alone does not confirm a test appointment.

Check your details before booking
Match the registered name to your identification document. Pearson VUE asks candidates to correct personal-information errors before testing. If you have approval but cannot book, check the status with PTI or Pearson VUE before paying for another application.
- Keep the PTI email, candidate number and payment receipt together.
- Check which examination parts are listed in your own registration.
- After booking, save each appointment confirmation and review its rescheduling rules.

Prepare your materials and test-day plan
Use the DBPR construction examination page for the approved reference list and current candidate instructions. Before buying books, check the list for your exam. Required titles and editions may differ.
- Check the test-center address, arrival instructions and identification requirements.
- Match the titles and editions of approved reference books.
- Confirm the appointment before buying travel tickets.

Licensing follows the examination
Passing an examination does not replace license approval. For the usual certification route, DBPR also considers experience and financial responsibility. The requirements and forms depend on the category and application route.
