Where to start
A company’s Sunbiz registration, its EIN tax identifier and authorization for a particular activity serve different purposes. Forming an LLC does not mean that all licensing and local requirements have been completed.

Which filing comes first?
Before leasing premises or making large commitments, identify the licenses and local approvals your activity may require. When creating an LLC or corporation, the IRS directs applicants to form the entity with the state before applying for its EIN.
- Describe exactly what you sell or which services you perform.
- Identify the formation state and actual operating location.
- Keep the legal name and responsible-party information consistent across documents.
- Keep the registration confirmations and a list of requirements still outstanding.

The IRS does not charge for an EIN
An EIN is available directly from the IRS at no charge. A consultant’s assistance fee is separate from the EIN itself. Online eligibility depends on the IRS criteria, and an authorized third-party application requires signed authorization.
For an initial consultation, describe the business and documents already obtained. Do not send SSNs or banking details through public messages or an initial inquiry form.
Review the remaining obligations after formation
Separately check whether you need Florida Department of Revenue registration, a local business tax receipt, zoning approval or authorization from an industry regulator. The requirements depend on your operation; there is no single license covering every kind of business.
